What is a verb?
A verb is one of the main parts of a sentence or question in English.
In fact, you can’t have a sentence or a question without a verb! That’s how important these “action” parts of speech are.
A verb adalah salah satu bab utama dari sebuah kalimat atau sebuah pertanyaan dalam bahasa inggris. Kita tidak kan sanggup membentuk sebuah kalimat atau pertanyaan dalam bahasa inggris tanpa sebuah kata kerja (verb).
What are verb phrases?
A phrasal verb is a combination of words (a verb + a preposition or verb +adverb) that when used together, usually take on a different meaning to that of the original verb.
A phrasal verb atau Verb Phrase yaitu kombinasi dari kata-kata (Words) (a verb + a preposition or verb +adverb) yang dikala dipakai secara bersamaan memiliki makna yang berbeda terhadap kata kerja yang aslinya (original verb).

Bentuk Verb Phrase
The verb phrase dalam bahasa Inggris memiliki bentuk sebagai berikut:
1) a main verb:

2) an auxiliary verb (“be”) and a main verb in –ing form:

A verb phrase dengan “be” and –ing expresses continuous aspect.
3) an auxiliary verb (“have”) and a main verb with past participle:

Sebuah verb dengan “have” dan past participle expresses perfect aspect. sebuah verb dengan have/has expresses present perfect, and a verb dengan had expresses past perfect.
4) an auxiliary verb (“have” + “been”) and a main verb in the –ing form:

sebuah verb dengan “have” and “been” dan present participle expresses perfect continuous aspect. A verb dengan have/has expresses present perfect continuous, and a verb dengan had expresses past perfect continuous.
5) a modal verb (can, could, may, might, must, shall, should, will, would) and a main verb:

Fungsi Verb yang paling pertama dalam tata bahasa Inggris yaitu sebagai induk atau kepala dari Verb Phrase. Sebuag verb phrase terdiri dari sebuah kata kerja (verb), dan ditambah dengan beberapa modifier, complements, particles, and auxiliaries termasuk modal verbs, operators, have, and be.

Fungsi verb phrase yang ke tiga yaitu sebagai Noun Phrase Modifiers . Noun phrase modifiers yaitu phrase yang terdiri dari words and phrases yang menjelaskan noun or noun phrase.

Fungsi selanjutnya yaitu sebagai Verb Phrase Complements. Verb phrase complements sendiri merupakan sebuah phrases yang melengkapi makana dari sebuah verb phrase. Verb phrases dalam bentuk infinitives dan base forms sanggup berfungsi sebagai verb phrase complements. bentuk infinitive atau base form mengukuti beberapa cat native verbs yang berfungsi sebagai verb phrase complement.
